Morse + Harris Marketing Awarded State-Wide,
Anti-Tobacco Campaign
MICHIGAN CITY, IN (April 22, 2013) – Morse + Harris Marketing was recently awarded the contract to create and help implement a statewide youth-focused, anti-tobacco campaign for the State of Indiana. Morse + Harris competed with several other agencies and presented original artwork concepts and campaign ideas as part of the selection process.
As part of the state-wide campaign, Morse + Harris will be working with the Indiana Department of Health, Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Commission, the Indiana VOICE Action Advisory group. Together the team’s goal will be to help reduce tobacco use among Indiana’s youth and young adults. Morse + Harris will work with the team to use several channels of communication and engage with Indiana’s youth. Morse + Harris has many engaging activities and contests planned to help Indiana’s youth recognize the harms of tobacco use and give these young people a chance to use their voice to influence their peers and stand against big tobacco companies.
“It is an honor to be awarded such an important project,” said Stacey Harris, Partner and Account Services Director at Morse + Harris Marketing. “Through research, focus groups and our own life experiences as parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends, we understand and identify the pressure young people face regarding smoking and tobacco use. Our goal is to use key influencers such as the Internet, social media, and peer engagement to provide information and encouragement. We want to empower youth to make a difference not only in their own lives, but also in the lives of those most important to them.”
The Morse + Harris team along with the Voice Advisory and State of Indiana Health/Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Commission are working hard to create interactive contests and educational messages, which will encourage young people to use their voice against smoking and tobacco use. Contests and participation are going to allow individuals of all talents to showcase their abilities in a fun, tobacco free environment. These activities are still in development, but plans include art, music, dancing and more.
Harris added that the team hopes the next 12 months will be full of opportunities for Indiana’s tweens, teens and young adults to express their thoughts while helping their peers realize the harms of tobacco use. To help in the efforts of reducing Indiana youth smoking rates, please look for and participate in upcoming events.
“In the end, our hope is that kids in our middle schools and high schools across the state realize that the most important influence anyone has is their voice,” Harris added. “So use your voice to help reduce the start of smoking and tobacco use."
